Our Story
CrossFit Harbour was born in June 2023 – our doors officially opened at the end of July 2023. Pete and Megan had a vision of what they wanted in a CrossFit gym and there was nothing like it in town. They took the leap and decided to open up CrossFit Harbour. Their first location was 99 Chau Thi Vinh Te and it was just over 130m2 of space. They made it their own, but they always knew this wasn’t going to be their home. By a stroke of luck, around one year later, they found their second location, 257 Chinh Huu (over 380m2).
They have been evolving since then by building up their personal training portfolio, and growing the group CrossFit classes. They are constantly trying to reinvest into the business. Pete and Megan are committed to their staff and members, and are driven to providing the best services to help people achieve their health and fitness goals.
Meet the Coaches
Pete Tran
Certification: CrossFit L1
Pete is a passionate CrossFit coach with over ten years of experience. His strong background in powerlifting, functional fitness and Olympic weightlifting adds an extra edge to his coaching, making his sessions comprehensive and effective. Pete loves helping people from all fitness levels improve their lives through CrossFit. He believes fitness should be fun and accessible for everyone.
His favorite thing about coaching is seeing the milestones members achieve, like being able to pick up their child, or picking up their suitcase pain free after years. Pete tailors his coaching to meet your specific needs and goals. Committed to continuous learning, Pete stays updated with the latest techniques to ensure safe and effective training. He creates a supportive and motivating environment, encouraging clients to push their limits and achieve their best.
James Barragan
Certification: CrossFit L1
James and his wife, Kate moved to Da Nang in 2022 for his job. Coach James is a former professional baseball prospect and private instructor who brings years of weightlifting, CrossFit, and coaching experience to CrossFit Harbour. In America, Coach James played Division 1 university level baseball and also had several opportunities to play professionally. After he retired from baseball, Coach James started coaching baseball as a private instructor, where he implemented many of the training principles he learned as a player.
Over the years he has trained hundreds of athletes of all ages and skill levels. He was introduced to CrossFit by his cousin and fell in love with the sport. The community and friendly competitiveness of CrossFit are what won him over. He’s excited to have the opportunity to coach again, and help others achieve their fitness goals on their way to a healthier lifestyle.
